Keep hope alive

Our Program in Mozambique

Stay Alive has been received in Mozambique with great enthusiasm. The Department of Education has officially recognized Stay Alive as an approved program. Care for Life, our partnering organization, implements Stay Alive in Mozambique and has received a letter of appreciation from the provincial director of Education. Care for Life has been mentioned on TV and radio in connection with the work they are doing in HIV/AIDS prevention.

Educators and parents alike are excited about the program and they believe it fits particularly well with their culture and values. There is no other program in Mozambique specifically directed to children before they become sexually active.

Stay Alive has been taught to nearly 40,000 children in the Sofala Province of Mozambique. A grant received by Care for Life from the government of Mozambique helped make this possible. Care for Life has applied for an additional grant which would enable Stay Alive to be taken to four additional provinces of Mozambique and reach 330,000 children. Stay Alive would then be positioned to continue long-term and eventually expand to the entire nation.
